Summary of October 6, 2009 Meeting
By Pamela Anderson
Once again everyone who attended the CANV Meeting had a spectacular evening. This one was held on Tuesday October 6th at The Lincoln Theater in Yountville! For those of you that weren't able to attend here are just a few snippets:
Domaine Chandon was offering sparkling wine upon entering the beautiful reception area. Charbay was mixing up their special aperitifs as little nibbles were offered from the wait staff. So many of you came out to join us - Rosemarie from The Meritage Resort and Julliete from Avia Hotel in Napa were eagerly sharing their stories of favorite wineries and restaurants. Justin Stewart, owner of Elegant Tours and his driver Alam arrived in proper style accompanied by LesConcierges from San Francisco - Justin eagerly shared information on boutiques wineries like Chanticleer and the Gabrielle Collection, and how winter is a fantastic time to visit the valley so that guests may enjoy a more intimate experience!
As we walked into the theater the string trio, Eloquence serenaded us - we were all eager to hear about the Food, Wine and the Arts of Napa Valley.
Opening introductions were made by Colby Smith and Monica Stevens welcoming everyone to the event. Since CANV's inception (6 months ago to the day) the membership has now grown in size to 282 members. Just signed on... 70 new members from Les Concierges in San Francisco and another 25 LesConcierges offices nationwide.
Richard Aldag, the Lincoln Theater Executive Director was the first to speak and was very eager to share that they will be merging the Napa Valley Symphony and the Lincoln Theater in Yountville together. The Napa Valley Symphony has been around for 77 years and has attracted professionals from all over the world, and they are looking forward to their continued success with the Yountville Lincoln Theater. Richard then gave out key dates for future performances such as Doc Severinsen on October 26th and a Valentines Day concert focusing on the music of Frank Sinatra.
Richard would like us all to look forward to the developing relationship between the art world and restaurants - he introduced Bob Hurley who was sitting in the audience - and spoke of Yountvilles' newest attraction The Yountville Trolley, that will take guests between restaurants and the theater with out worrying about drinking and driving!
Judith Caldwell from the Yountville Arts Committee spoke about the different artists and gallery owners that contribute to the art world in the Napa Valley. She welcomed the Art Council Staff that were in the audience, Kerry Smith and Nancy Willis. Judith spoke about the many wineries with incredible art pieces such as Swanson and Jessup.
Monica and Colby then announced the raffle drawing:
1st Prize: $50 Gift Certificate to Napa Style
2nd Prize: $50 Gift Certificate to Napa Style
3rd Prize: Tour and Tasting for 8 people at Gamble Estate, plus magnum of wine
4th Prize: Dinner at Bottega worth up to $200
5th Prize: 2 tickets for the Lincoln Theater in Yountville
6th Prize: 2 tickets for the Napa Valley Symphony
7th Prize: 1 nights stay including breakfast at McClelland Priest Bed & Breakfast, and a special private tasting at Uncorked at Oxbow.
As we made our way out of the theater with the jazz trio playing beautifully behind us - we walked into the reception area surrounded by the aroma of incredible offerings from some of the finest restaurants in the valley. Bob Hurley was standing right next to a lovely table filled with all kinds of wonderful food. Pica Pica was right across the way, and we were so happy to see to Hog Island Oyster!
Edmund Grant and Krtisti Rene just returned from an art show in Rome and are looking forward to their next show in Milan in the next few months - their scultpures and paintings were glorious to behold!
All too soon the drivers from Elegant Tours and Beau Wine Tours were lining up to take LesConcierges back to the city and all of us were walking out to our cars talking with new friends and looking forward to new experiences with Monica and Colby from CANV!
